Zimbabwe Women Announce Mighty Warriors Squad for Four-Nation Tournament in Zambia
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has announced the Mighty Warriors squad for the upcoming four-nation international tournament set to take place in Zambia during the June international window.
Zimbabwe will compete alongside hosts Zambia, Kenya, and Burkina Faso in what is expected to be a highly competitive regional women’s football showcase.
The squad selection reflects ZIFA’s ongoing rebuilding and development strategy for the national women’s team, with a balanced mix of experienced players and emerging domestic talent.
The team is largely made up of locally based players, with only Emmaculate Msipa and Ethel Chinyerere currently playing abroad, highlighting the growing depth within Zimbabwe’s domestic women’s league system.
Goalkeepers
The goalkeeping department features Delight Matigwene (Chapungu Queens), Vanessa S. Lunga (Platinum Royals), and Cynthia Shonga (Herentals Queens), all expected to compete for the starting role.
Defenders
The defensive unit includes Egness Tumbare (Correctional Queens), Sheila Antonio (Chapungu Queens), Fiona Kabera (Conduit Soccer Academy), Nokukhanya Ndlovu (Platinum Royals), Melinda Mapasure (Faithdrive Academy), Macgirl Sipini (Harare City Queens), Thandekile Mandaba (Correctional Queens), and Ennert Chemhere (Platinum Royals), offering a blend of physical strength and youthful energy.
Midfielders
In midfield, ZIFA has named Daisy Kaitano (Black Rhinos Queens), Shyline Dambamuromo and Bridget Mutaurwa (Herentals Queens), Christabel Katona (Black Rhinos Queens), Bethel Kondo (Herentals Queens), alongside overseas-based Emmaculate Msipa (Ramat Hasharon, Israel), who brings valuable international experience.
Forwards
The attacking options feature Rutendo Makore (Black Rhinos Queens), Priviledge Mupeti (Black Rhinos Queens), Praynance Zvawanda (Herentals Queens), Ruvimbo Mucherera (Unattached), Anita Ncube (Kwekwe Queens), and Ethel Chinyerere (Green Buffaloes, Zambia), who will be responsible for providing goals and offensive threat.
The tournament is expected to serve as a key development platform for the Mighty Warriors as they continue their rebuilding process and test themselves against strong regional opposition.
