Scott Sakupwanya Eyes Man City-Level Project for Scottland FC, Confirms Kaizer Chiefs Talks

Scottland FC president Scott Sakupwanya has once again sent a strong message to Zimbabwean football after revealing the club’s ambitious plans to continue strengthening its squad both locally and internationally.

Speaking during a recent interview, Sakupwanya confirmed that Scottland FC are actively pursuing new signings from across the football world as they continue building a team capable of dominating Zimbabwean football.

The businessman and football administrator disclosed that discussions are currently underway with players from outside the country, while local recruitment efforts are already producing results.

“Kaizer Chiefs ndine ma talks andirikuita, abroad ndine ma talks andirikuita, then locally already makaona takatotenga Nyasulu,” Sakupwanya said.

The comments highlight Scottland’s growing ambition to establish themselves among the country’s elite clubs in a remarkably short period of time.

Since entering the Premier Soccer League, Scottland have consistently demonstrated their willingness to invest heavily in player recruitment, infrastructure and overall club development.

But Sakupwanya believes the project is only just beginning.

In perhaps the strongest statement of intent yet, the Scottland president compared his long-term vision to one of world football’s biggest clubs.

“It’s going to be the Man City for sure,” he declared.

The reference to English giants Manchester City reflects the scale of the ambition behind the Scottland project.

Manchester City transformed from a competitive club into one of the world’s most successful football institutions through strategic investment, elite recruitment and a commitment to long-term growth.

Sakupwanya believes Scottland can build a similar model within Zimbabwean football.

The club’s rapid rise has already attracted significant attention throughout the country, with supporters, rivals and football observers closely monitoring every move made by the ambitious side.

Currently sitting at the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League standings after 18 matches, Scottland have emerged as genuine title contenders in only their first season in the top flight.

Their performances on the field have matched the bold statements made off it.

However, Sakupwanya insists that football should remain a source of enjoyment and unity for supporters regardless of club affiliations.

While discussing Scottland’s future ambitions, he also delivered an important message about the spirit of football in Zimbabwe.

“All I want to say to Zimbabweans is let’s enjoy football. Ngatifarei bhora i Social nderekuti toenda tono tandara. Harisi rekuvengana, harisi rekuti nde re violence. No, no, no.”

The statement comes at a time when football continues to serve as one of the country’s biggest social and entertainment platforms.

Sakupwanya emphasised that rivalries should remain healthy and that supporters should use football as an opportunity to enjoy themselves rather than create conflict.

His message reinforces the growing calls for peaceful and positive fan culture across the Premier Soccer League.

As Scottland prepare for the next chapter of their journey, the club’s ambitions appear bigger than ever.

With local signings already arriving, international negotiations reportedly ongoing and the team currently leading the league standings, Sakupwanya’s vision for Scottland continues to expand.

And as if to underline his commitment to success, the club president recently doubled the player bonus for finishing top of the PSL standings after Matchday 18 from US$5,000 to US$10,000 per player.

For now, Scottland supporters will be dreaming of what comes next as their president continues to promise a future that could reshape Zimbabwean football.
