Zimbabwe outclassed as India complete ruthless 3-0 T20I series sweep in Harare

Zimbabwe’s T20 International series against India ended in disappointment after the Chevrons fell to a 35-run defeat in the third and final match at Harare Sports Club on Sunday, allowing the visitors to seal a commanding 3-0 series clean sweep.

The Chevrons entered the match hoping to restore pride after losing the opening two encounters, but despite a more competitive performance, they were unable to stop a confident Indian side from completing a perfect tour.

India posted an imposing 192/5 after being asked to bat, with teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again stealing the spotlight.

The 15-year-old continued to justify the growing hype surrounding him, producing a superb innings of 81 from 49 deliveries. His knock, decorated with eight fours and four sixes, laid the foundation for another strong Indian total and saw him finish as the leading run-scorer of the series with 151 runs.

Zimbabwe struck early through Blessing Muzarabani, who removed Abhishek Sharma cheaply, but the breakthrough did little to slow India’s momentum. Sooryavanshi and Ishan Kishan rebuilt confidently before captain Shreyas Iyer and Rinku Singh ensured the visitors finished strongly.

Brad Evans was Zimbabwe’s standout bowler with two wickets, while Sikandar Raza and Wessly Madhevere chipped in with one each.

Faced with a daunting target of 193, Zimbabwe’s chase never truly gathered momentum.

Brian Bennett was dismissed for a golden duck, while Dion Myers and captain Sikandar Raza also fell cheaply as India’s pace attack ripped through the top order.

Ryan Burl refused to surrender, producing an unbeaten 54 in a determined innings that gave the home crowd something to cheer about. Wessly Madhevere also made a useful contribution, but Zimbabwe’s lower order could not find the acceleration required as the innings closed on 157/7.

India seamer Mayank Yadav starred with the ball, finishing with outstanding figures of 3/29 to cap off an impressive individual performance.

The victory confirmed India’s complete dominance throughout the series, with the visitors winning every match through superior batting depth, disciplined bowling and sharp fielding.

For Zimbabwe, the series served as another reminder of the gap that still exists against the world’s leading T20 nations. While individual performances from players such as Ryan Burl and Blessing Muzarabani offered encouragement, the Chevrons struggled to produce consistent partnerships with the bat or apply sustained pressure with the ball.

India leave Harare unbeaten and full of confidence after an emphatic clean sweep, while Zimbabwe will look to regroup, learn from the experience and build towards future international assignments with valuable lessons gained from facing one of the strongest teams in world cricket.
