Saturday Wrap: Musona, Dube and Navaya shine as Senong makes winning start

Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matchday 27 delivered an action-packed Saturday, with several standout individual performances grabbing the headlines.
At the centre of the day’s action was Scottland forward Knowledge Musona, who produced a match-winning performance to help Mabviravira beat Simba Bhora 2-1 at Wadzanayi Stadium.
Musona scored twice in the first half, opening the scoring from the penalty spot before producing a superb free-kick to restore Scottland’s lead. His brace secured three crucial points for the league leaders and earned him his fourth LuckyBets Player of the Match award since the initiative was introduced.
Second-placed Hardrock also kept the pressure on Scottland with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over FC Hunters at Rufaro Stadium.
Washington Navaya was once again among the goals, scoring Hardrock’s equaliser after Godfrey Dabgwa had put Hunters ahead. The goal took Navaya’s league tally to 15 for the season, strengthening his position in the Golden Boot race.
Prince Dube then completed Hardrock’s comeback with a stoppage-time winner. His decisive strike earned him the LuckyBets Player of the Match award for the third time.
At Mandava Stadium, Thabo Senong began his FC Platinum reign with a winning start as his side defeated Agama 1-0.
Kudzai Muchenje scored the only goal of the match in the 67th minute, while Malawian defender Maxwell Paipi played an important role in helping FC Platinum protect their advantage and keep a clean sheet. Paipi was named the LuckyBets Player of the Match for the first time.
MWOS also produced an impressive comeback, recovering from an early deficit to thrash ZPC Kariba 4-1 at MWOS Ngoni Stadium.
Wilson Mensah was the star of the afternoon, scoring twice as the Punters overturned ZPC Kariba’s early lead. Nigel Makumbe and Valentine Katsanda also found the net, while Mensah completed the scoring in the second half.
The brace earned Mensah his third LuckyBets Player of the Match award.
