Ireland A have arrived in Zimbabwe ahead of their upcoming seven-match series against Zimbabwe A, with the visiting side touching down at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on Monday night.
The tour will see the two development sides meet in a series of matches scheduled to begin this Thursday, with Harare Sports Club and Old Hararians Sports Club set to host the action.
The arrival marks the beginning of Ireland A’s preparations for the assignment, which will provide both teams with an opportunity to compete against international opposition and assess their players across the different formats.
The opening fixture is a four-day encounter at Harare Sports Club, giving Zimbabwe A an immediate opportunity to test themselves in the longer format against the visiting Irish side.
For the hosts, the series represents an important period of competitive cricket on home soil. Playing across seven matches will give the team an opportunity to build consistency, while the different challenges presented by the fixtures will test their batting, bowling and fielding.
Ireland A will also be looking to make the most of their time in Zimbabwe as they begin their tour. Their arrival on Monday night allows the visitors to settle in ahead of Thursday’s opening match.
With Harare Sports Club and Old Hararians Sports Club providing the venues, Zimbabwean cricket supporters can look forward to a busy period of action as the two sides begin their seven-match contest.
