Herentals Reap Rewards as Benza and Kawondera Scoop May PSL Awards

Herentals FC’s impressive 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign has received further recognition after head coach Celestino Paul Benza and captain Ralph Kawondera were honoured in the league’s May monthly awards.
Benza was named Coach of the Month following an outstanding unbeaten run that saw Herentals collect three victories and three draws during the month. The strong return of 12 points helped keep the Students firmly in the title race and among the league’s leading contenders.
After Matchday 15, Herentals sit in third position with 28 points, separated from the league leaders only by goal difference, highlighting the club’s consistency and growing ambitions this season.
The coach has transformed Herentals into one of the most difficult teams to beat in the league, combining defensive organisation with an effective attacking approach that has delivered results throughout the campaign.
Meanwhile, club captain Ralph Kawondera continued his remarkable season by securing the Player of the Month award for the second consecutive month.
Kawondera has been one of the standout performers in the league, leading the PSL scoring charts with nine goals after 15 matches. Primarily an attacking midfielder, the Herentals skipper has demonstrated his versatility this season, occasionally featuring in central defence while still maintaining his influence in attacking areas.
His leadership, work ethic and ability to deliver crucial goals have been central to Herentals’ success, making him one of the most influential players in the league this season.
The double award triumph underlines Herentals’ growing impact in the title race as they continue to push for top honours heading into the second half of the season.
With Benza guiding the team from the touchline and Kawondera leading by example on the field, Herentals will be hoping their impressive form continues in the coming weeks.
