Willard Katsande steps down at Grand Legacy to pursue CAF B coaching licence

Former Zimbabwe Warriors captain Willard Katsande has resigned as head coach of Eastern Region Soccer League side Grand Legacy FC as he shifts his focus towards advancing his coaching qualifications.

Katsande’s departure comes just five months after ending his spell with Rangers FC, where he also served as head coach, as the former midfielder continues building his career on the sidelines.

Speaking to ZimSports Flash™, Katsande revealed that the decision was motivated by his desire to continue developing as a coach

“I’m going back to school to focus on my CAF B,” he said.

The 40-year-old also confirmed that he is returning to South Africa, where he will combine his coaching studies with other football commitments.

“I’m flying back to SA for Legends and to do my CAF B,” Katsande added.

Widely regarded as one of Zimbabwe’s greatest midfielders, Katsande enjoyed a distinguished playing career that included successful spells with Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa and numerous appearances for the Warriors.

Since moving into coaching, he has shown a clear commitment to growing within the profession by gaining practical experience while also working towards higher coaching qualifications.

His latest decision reflects a long-term approach to coaching development, with the CAF B Licence representing another important milestone in his journey.

Although his time at Grand Legacy FC has come to an end, Katsande’s focus now turns to education and self-improvement as he prepares himself for future opportunities in football management.

Many Zimbabwean football supporters will be watching with interest as the former Warriors captain continues to invest in his coaching career, with hopes that the knowledge and experience gained will contribute to his next challenge in the dugout.
