Scottland FC Learn CAF Champions League Fate as Nsingizini Hotspurs Stand in Historic Debut Path

Scottland FC’s maiden CAF Champions League campaign has taken shape after the Zimbabwean champions were handed their preliminary round opponents during Thursday’s draw held in Cairo, Egypt.

The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League winners will face Eswatini champions Nsingizini Hotspurs in the opening preliminary round of the 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

The two sides will battle over two legs in September, with the first encounter scheduled between 4-6 September before the return fixture takes place from 11-13 September.

Scottland earned their place in Africa’s premier club competition after a remarkable debut season in the Zimbabwean top flight, where they went on to lift the PSL title and secure a historic continental ticket.

The Harare club will now begin preparations for their first-ever CAF assignment as they look to make a memorable start against Nsingizini Hotspurs.

Victory over the Eswatini champions would see Scottland advance to the second preliminary round, where they will face either Mozambique’s UD Songo or Angola’s Atlético Petróleos.

With continental football bringing a new challenge, Scottland have been strengthening their squad and preparing for the demands of competing against some of Africa’s leading clubs.

The club’s rise has been one of the biggest stories in Zimbabwean football, and their Champions League debut gives them an opportunity to showcase the country’s football talent on the African stage.
