Zimbabwe will take centre stage on the global cricket map after the International Cricket Council (ICC) officially confirmed the countryโ€™s venues for the 2027 ICC Menโ€™s Cricket World Cup.

The announcement, made during a high-profile ceremony in Johannesburg, confirmed that Zimbabwe will host part of the biggest cricket tournament in the world alongside South Africa and Namibia as the prestigious event returns to Africa after 24 years.

The confirmation means Zimbabwe will welcome international cricketโ€™s biggest names to three venues โ€” Harare Sports Club in Harare, Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo and the newly built Fale Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium in Victoria Falls.

The country will host 10 World Cup matches, giving Zimbabwean fans the rare opportunity to witness elite international cricket on home soil while showcasing the nationโ€™s sporting facilities and tourism attractions to millions of viewers worldwide.

The biggest talking point is the inclusion of Victoria Falls, where the new Fale Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium will make history as the first international cricket venue in the resort town.

The move represents a major expansion of Zimbabweโ€™s sporting footprint, taking top-level cricket beyond the traditional centres of Harare and Bulawayo. The stadium will place Victoria Falls among the worldโ€™s recognised cricket destinations while connecting sport with one of Africaโ€™s most iconic tourism locations.

Known worldwide for the breathtaking Mosi-oa-Tunya waterfall, Victoria Falls welcomes thousands of visitors every year. The arrival of the Cricket World Cup is expected to create a new opportunity for tourism growth, with international supporters, teams and media expected to experience Zimbabweโ€™s natural beauty alongside world-class cricket.

The stadiumโ€™s inclusion also highlights how major sporting events can contribute to long-term development. Beyond hosting matches, the facility is expected to leave a lasting legacy by creating new opportunities for local communities, encouraging youth participation in cricket and strengthening Zimbabweโ€™s ability to host global events.

Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani and Sports Minister Anselem Sanyatwe were among the Zimbabwean delegation that attended the ICC venue unveiling ceremony in Johannesburg, which officially launched the countdown to the 2027 tournament.

Zimbabwe cricket legend Hamilton Masakadza represented the country at the event, joining South African icons Makhaya Ntini and Hashim Amla, as well as Namibiaโ€™s Rudolf Jansen van Vuuren, as the host venues were revealed.

The 2027 ICC Menโ€™s Cricket World Cup will feature 57 matches involving 14 teams, with the tournament spread across 12 venues in the three host nations.

South Africa will host matches at eight venues, including Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, Centurion in Tshwane, Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town, Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban, St Georgeโ€™s Park in Gqeberha, Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, Boland Park in Paarl and Buffalo Park in KuGompo City.

Namibia will host matches at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek as the country prepares for its first senior ICC tournament as a host nation.

For Zimbabwe, the World Cup is not only about cricket. It is a chance to present the country to a global audience, highlighting its sporting talent, hospitality, culture and tourism potential.

The tournament comes at a time when Zimbabwe Cricket continues to invest in infrastructure and development programmes aimed at growing the game across the country.

The hosting of 10 matches will provide unforgettable moments for supporters, while Zimbabweโ€™s players will have the opportunity to compete on the biggest stage in front of their home crowd.

With Victoria Falls joining Harare and Bulawayo as World Cup venues, Zimbabwe is preparing to deliver a tournament experience that combines elite sport with the unique character and beauty of the nation.

The ICC Menโ€™s Cricket World Cup 2027 promises to be a landmark event for Zimbabwe โ€” a celebration of cricket, tourism, infrastructure development and the countryโ€™s growing place on the international sporting stage.
