Highlanders strengthen squad with signing of Ephany Gwavava
Highlanders FC have strengthened their squad ahead of the second half of the season with the signing of left-back Ephany Gwavava as coach Benjani Mwaruwari continues to reshape his team.
The Bulawayo giants confirmed Gwavava’s arrival on Thursday, welcoming the defender as part of their plans to build a competitive squad under the guidance of their former Warriors captain.
“Please join us in giving a warm welcome to the new member of the Bosso family, Ephany Gwavava,” Highlanders said in a brief statement.
The 26-year-old left-back has been on Mwaruwari’s radar for some time, with the coach identifying him as a player who can add depth and quality to the Highlanders squad.
Gwavava has previous experience playing outside Zimbabwe, including stints in Botswana, which have added to his football journey.
He also featured for Highlanders earlier this year when Bosso faced the Zimbabwe national team in a friendly match, giving the club an opportunity to assess his abilities before securing his services.
The signing comes as Highlanders continue preparing for the second half of the season, with the club looking to strengthen different areas of the squad and improve their performances in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign.
Gwavava’s arrival provides Mwaruwari with another option at left-back as Highlanders aim to compete strongly in the remaining matches of the season.
