Team Zimbabwe Arrive in Mauritius Ahead of 2026 SACA Under 18 and Under 20 Championships

Team Zimbabwe’s first batch arrived safely in Mauritius on 3 June ahead of the 2026 SACA Under 18 and Under 20 Championships, which are set to begin on 5 June at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex.
The travelling contingent consists of both the Under 18 and Under 20 boys’ teams, who are representing the country in one of the region’s most competitive junior athletics events. The squad is being led by coaches Aaron Whyte and McGregor Manuwa, who will oversee the final preparations before competition begins.
The early arrival has given the athletes time to settle into the environment, recover from travel, and complete their final training adjustments ahead of the opening day. The team has been preparing for months, with athletes putting in strong performances at national competitions to earn their places in the squad.
With the championships officially starting on 5 June, Team Zimbabwe will now shift full focus to competition, where they will face top young athletes from across Southern Africa. The event presents a major opportunity for athletes to test themselves at international level while targeting regional titles, personal bests, and qualification standards for the World Athletics U20 Championships.
Team Zimbabwe will be looking to continue the nation’s proud tradition in athletics, with both the Under 18 and Under 20 squads aiming to make a strong impression on the track and field.
As the countdown to competition begins, all eyes will be on the Zimbabwean contingent as they prepare to fly the national flag high in Mauritius.
