Mighty Warriors Begin Preparations for Four-Nation Tournament in Zambia
The Zimbabwe senior women’s national football team, the Mighty Warriors, have officially begun preparations for the upcoming four-nation international tournament set to be held in Zambia during the June international window.
Zimbabwe will compete against hosts Zambia, Kenya, and Burkina Faso in a competitive regional tournament designed to test the strength and development of women’s football teams in Southern and East Africa.
The start of camp follows the recent announcement of the squad by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), with the selected players reporting to camp as the technical team intensifies training ahead of the tournament.
The squad features a blend of experienced campaigners and emerging talent, with most players drawn from the domestic Women’s Premier Soccer League. Only Emmaculate Msipa and Ethel Chinyerere represent the foreign-based contingent, bringing international experience into the group.
Training sessions are expected to focus on tactical organisation, match fitness, and team cohesion as the Mighty Warriors aim to build a competitive unit capable of challenging regional opponents.
ZIFA views the tournament as a key development opportunity, allowing the national team to gain valuable international exposure while continuing its rebuilding process.
The Mighty Warriors will use the training camp to fine-tune combinations across all departments, with goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards all competing for starting positions ahead of the opening match.
Further updates on friendly matches, training progress, and final squad adjustments are expected as the team continues its build-up to the tournament in Zambia.
